30 Equestrian Fashion Brands

When I first started riding, my primary shopping source for boots and helmets was online. I really didn’t know what to look for and made my selections based on reviews and price points. As is true for just about every good, however, quality differs between brands, and finding one that you trust will make shopping that much easier.

What are some of the top equestrian fashion brands? Horseback riding is not a “modern” activity – horses were the primary mode of transportation for much of history, and equestrian sports have been around for hundreds of years. This means that there are many equestrian fashion brands that have proven themselves year in and year out, from Troxel to Lucchese.

Keep reading to learn about thirty of the best equestrian fashion brands!

Ophena

Ophena designed the world’s first magnetic safety stirrup sold directly to the consumer. Today, their stirrups, and their apparel, are sold in over 70 countries. In addition to their revolutionary stirrups and magnetic insoles, they also sell riding vests, tights, and shirts.

Charles Owen

Since 1911, Charles Owen has been providing quality helmets and body protection vests to equestrians around the globe.

Cavalleria Toscana

Founded in 2008, Cavalleria Toscana is well-known in the equestrian community and sells luxury competition clothing and saddle pads. At Cavalleria Toscana, the price point reflects the high quality.

Vestrum

Italian brand Vestrum sells a wide range of horse accessories and competition apparel including show jackets, polo shirts, and riding breeches.

Kask

Since 2004, Kask has been committed to innovation and safety. They offer helmets for every sport, including horseback riding. Their helmets are further separated by equestrian discipline – they offer helmets for show jumping, dressage, and cross country. While you can certainly find a less expensive helmet elsewhere, Kask offers specialized designs in safety helmets.

Pomme

While Swedish company Pomme also offers riding jackets, vests, and shirts, they are primarily known for their breeches and leggings. Their breeches are fashionable, designed with conveniences, and in my opinion, have prices that are quite reasonable.

Animo

Italian brand Animo sells a wealth of products for equestrians including show jackets, polo shirts, training shirts, breeches, and even jeans and socks. They are well-known for their quality and their eye-catching albatross emblem.

LeMieux

Established in 2018, LeMieux is officially one of the UK’s fastest-growing companies, with products sold in 69 countries now. LeMieux sells riding apparel for men, women, and children including jackets, sweatshirts, breeches, shirts, leggings, and even loungewear. They also sell rain boots, accessories, and even toy horses for children.

Samshield

Samshield was created in the early 2000s by French rider Sam Maloigne who strove to design a helmet that provided technological advances in safety, comfort, and fashionable style. In addition to helmets, Samshield also offers riding gloves and accessories.

Equiline

Founded in Italy in 1989, Equiline serves both equestrians and their horses. For riders, they offer jackets, breeches, polo shirts, and accessories. For horses, they offer blankets, saddle pads, bridles, halters, lead ropes, and hoof and mask accessories.

Troxel

While there are several companies on this list that sell riding helmets, Troxel is probably the most widely recognized. Troxel was the first company to sell an ASTM-approved helmet in 1992 and has since sold over 4 million helmets to equestrians of all disciplines.

Aztec Diamond

UK-based company Aztec Diamond sells riding apparel for equestrians and other athletes including competition jackets, breeches, shirts, leggings, and even socks and gloves.

Equinavia

For more than forty years, Scandinavian company Equinavia has been supplying equestrians with just about everything they need – riding apparel, horse tack, boots, grooming kits, and even horse health products.

Pikeur

Pikeur is an established apparel company that has been around since 1957. They sell all things apparel from socks to show jackets, and everything in between.

The Tailored Sportsman

The Tailored Sportsman is a line of high-end riding apparel sold at most equestrian clothing retailers. They are best known for their tailored breeches and riding shirts.

Kerrits

Kerrits started in the 1980s in the Pacific Northwest. They are dedicated to designing comfortable, usable rider apparel for every equestrian. Kerrits offers breeches, tights, tops, jackets, vests, footwear, and accessories for women and children. While their clothing is of solid quality, what I really dig is their logo – a horseshoe with a carrot in the middle.

PS of Sweden

PS of Sweden is a popular equestrian brand that sells apparel and gear for both riders and their mounts. They sell both casual and competition apparel for both men and women, in addition to riding accessories.

Irideon Riding Wear

Irideon Riding Wear is a brand that’s sold at various equestrian apparel shops and includes breeches, riding jackets, vests, and riding shirts. Their clothing is designed for comfort, durability, and real-life usage.

Romfh

In 1996 Romfh was founded by an equestrian who aspired to combine her love of fashion with her desire for functional riding gear. What makes Romfh unique is the inclusion of apparel designed specifically for equestrians of all shapes and sizes with their plus-size line.

Uvex

Uvex is a company committed to developing safety gear with technology and functionality at the forefront of their designs. The company sells safety helmets and accessories for just about every sport and has a dedicated equestrian line for riders.

Horse Pilot

Horse Pilot is a French company that sells high-quality equestrian apparel for women, men, and youth. Their focus is on developing products that utilize materials of the latest technology to provide safety and functionality. The only downside to this brand is they do not yet ship to the United States.

Ariat

So far on this list I’ve focused primarily on brands designed for English disciplines. The next nine companies are focused on the Western disciplines. Ariat is one of the most well-known Western apparel companies in the world. They sell everything from workwear and riding apparel to boots (and they aren’t just for the cowboys and cowgirls – Ariat also has a line of English tall boots).

Luchesse

Since 1883, Luchesse has been developing riding boots that marry style with comfort. While there are boots you can buy for a lower price, I personally find Luchesse to be the most comfortable Western boot on the market.

Wrangler

Another brand that just about everyone has heard of, Wrangler became a household name shortly after its inception in 1947. They are one of the most popular brands among Western equestrians but are also marketed to and loved by the general (non-riding) population.

Montana Silversmiths

If you’ve attended a Western show, you’ll know that cowboys and cowgirls like their “bling”, whether that be in the form of jewelry or belt buckles. Montana Silversmiths is one of the biggest purveyors of these popular accessories.

Stetson

Cowboy hats go with Western riders like peanut butter goes with jelly. One of the most popular Western hat designers is Stetson, who has been creating functional and stylish cowboy hats since 1865.

Resistol

Another popular Western hat brand (and boot brand) is Resistol, which has been around since 1927. While they don’t benefit from the same name recognition as Stetson, they are especially well-known for their straw hats.

Carhartt

Since 1889, Carhartt has been supplying the world’s equestrians, tradesmen, and the general public with durable and functional apparel. My absolute favorite leggings are from Carhartt – they are flattering and they have giant pockets (are there any other women’s pants that can fit an entire cell phone in a front pocket?).

Justin

Justin is a popular Western boot brand that has been around since the late 1800s. One of their most popular sub-brands is the comfortable and stylish Tony Lama boot.

Roper

Roper is pretty much a one-stop shop for Western apparel for men, women, and youth – they even have a line of boots (or should I say booties) for infants! Here you can meet all of your family’s Western clothing needs.

Bonus Brand: Equine Helper

We’ve started our own line or equestrian apparel suited for every type of equestrian. You can visit our Etsy store here to see what we offer!

Tried-and-True Equestrian Fashion Brands

You can’t go to just any store and purchase quality equestrian apparel and gear. Anything “horse-related” is going to cost money, and when you’re making any kind of significant purchase you want to be able to buy a brand you can trust. The above thirty brands produce high-quality apparel, footwear, and hats that can stand up to the rugged demands that we equestrians face every day (with the style we desire as well, of course).
